Love. Freedom. Ukraine. event series in partnership with Up Ua Studio, and Buckhead Art & Company presenting Projecting Freedom movie nights.
Over the past decade, Ukrainian cinema has undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving into a vibrant and thriving industry. With a rich cultural heritage and a pool of talented filmmakers, Ukraine has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the global cinematic landscape.
However, the outbreak of the full-scale invasion, started by Russia, forced numerous Ukrainian filmmakers to flee their homes and seek refuge in other countries. These talented individuals, driven by their passion for storytelling and their determination to continue their craft, established new connections and networks in their adopted homes. From film schools to production companies, they found avenues to keep the Ukrainian cinematic spirit alive.
Today, Ukrainian cinema is attracting international recognition. Ukrainian filmmakers are not only producing critically acclaimed films but also making a mark on the global stage, with their works garnering awards and nominations at prestigious film festivals. The revitalization of the industry can be attributed to the resilience, talent, and unwavering dedication of Ukrainian filmmakers, as well as the unwavering support of other countries.
